All about me! - Jean Macdonald

I live in Shropshire and am lucky to have access to this beautiful county on my doorstep. My main interests are landscapes, nature and wildlife.

I served in Armed Forces as a physical training instructor in the WRAC, and then trained as a physiotherapist working in London, New Zealand and Devon.

During this time my photography took a back step whilst concentrating on my careers.

Over the last seven years however I have had more time on my hands to pick up my camera again!

I sell greeting cards for which profits made go to a women's mental health group in Shrewsbury.

I have also been involved in the publication of a book called 'Secret Shropshire. The book can be purchased on Amazon UK.

All profits from the book sales  go to The Lingen Davies Cancer Unit.

Approx 1993! City & Guilds Distinction in Portraiture

2002 Photographic Alliance of Great Britain - Accepted for the 2002 Annual Colour Slide Exhibition

2007 Image chosen for M.A.D Art Exhibition in London Mind (National Association for Mental Health)

2008 Produced cover image for ‘Openmind’ Magazine 2009 4th place in The Amateur APTOY Competition – theme H2O Photography Monthly Magazine won a Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR, in their Extreme Challenge competition. PlantLife

2009 Calendar competition – my image chosen for month of January Shortlisted in the finals of BWPA (British Wildlife Photography Awards) Highly Commended in GPOTY (Garden Photographer of the Year) for portfolio of 6 images in category ‘Trees’ – Images of sunrays in forest on Wart Hill Craven Arms

2010 Acceptances in International Salons Travel Photographer of the year 2010 – Shortlisted in category ‘Amazing Places’ with set of 4 images of sunrays at Wart Hill near Craven Arms Winner of The Princes Trust Calendar 2010 Competition – Won hamper and hot air balloon ride for 2 My image of ‘pony in snow’ was chosen to represent Shropshire in the national ‘Great British Life’ competition. Won Photographic competition with Shropshire Review magazine

2011 Front cover image of January issue of Shropshire Life Magazine Won my category ‘Arable’ in The Farmers Weekly Photographic Competition Prize was £100. Then won the overall winner with image of a tractor taken on the outskirts of Craven Arms. Prize was a Nikon D90 camera (I had cash £700 to buy a lens!) Shortlisted in the Countryfile 2011 Calendar Competition Images chosen for submissions in the Shropshire Life Magazine Shrewsbury Open Photography Exhibition x2 Acceptances -One highly recommended Shortlisted in the finals of BWPA (British Wildlife Photography Awards) SPARC Exhibition – Bishops Castle, Two Entries Exhibition to showcase the 10 finalist images chosen for Shropshire in the ‘Great British Life’ competition. 36th Smethwick International - Exhibition of Photography - 2 Acceptances Caring for God's Acre - Sacred Spaces through the ages - 1st place in the Adult photographic Competition
